Market Opportunity
Attendi is a smart combination of Google, MySpace, Yahoo! Answers and live chat. While there has been no market-sizing research to date for human-powered search, eMarketer predicts that U.S. spending on paid search advertising will grow from $8.29 billion in 2007 to $14.21 billion in 2010.
Demo Says
There’s much talk of “people-powered” search these days and it has its share of fans and detractors. Attendi puts a different spin on the concept, seeding its database entirely with conversations between users. Rather than attempting to take on the entire Web, Attendi.com focuses on people’s passions. You won’t visit the site for the definition of a horse, for example, but it could be your first stop for advice on pursuing a hobby of horse breeding and racing. It’s true wisdom of the crowds and, interestingly enough in this time of community, hasn’t yet been explored by other search engines.
